Five Nights at Rock Bottom (Also called Five Nights at the Krusty Krab 3 by Dakota before 2022) is the cancelled 3rd and final game of the Five Nights at the Krusty Krab series. The game had a few concepts revealed in KentuckyFriedBlaziken's 'Closing the Door' video.

Plot[]

The story would have been that the Phone Guy would have been dragged into Rock Bottom by Squidward after killing Eli Floyd in Five Nights at the Chum Bucket. Eli would have then be put into a machine called Hammer Head, and be forced to kill the Phone Guy, who is now in Rock Bottom. The game would have allegedly have 2 endings, one bad and one good. The bad ending would have had the Phone Guy escape, but it would be the bad ending since nothing gets resolved. The good ending would have been the Phone Guy being turned into a robot himself and then the reveal would have come that Hammer Head was Eli Floyd all along, and you would have then been "Robo-Buddies".

Development History[]

Dakota Wood’s original vision was that the series would have ended at Five Nights at the Chum Bucket, since he thought that if the Main character died, there was no way to continue the series. But seeing the current hype around multiple fangames getting a 3rd game, he decided to join in, not making the game for himself, but for the fans.

Development started a few months after Five Nights at the Chum Bucket’s release, with the office being made along with Hammer Head’s model. Originally, the game would have not had any SpongeBob characters at all, and would've instead been completely original. Later in development however, Dakota wanted to bring the old characters back, specifically the Phantom Variants of Krusty Krab's Spongebob, Patrick, and Squidward as flickering images on your office PC. However, since, at the same time, Five Nights at Freddy's 4 came out, which had Nightmare versions of all characters, Dakota decided to bring the old animatronics back as Nightmare versions instead.

He decided to watch The Evil Within for inspiration, and thus wanted to make the Animatronics Barbed wire versions since the Zombies in that movie were all with barbed wire. He then made what he called a "disgusting looking" Barbed wire Squidward model. The whole idea for these Barbedwire animatronics was that when they were in your hallways, you would have to look really close into the darkness to notice them, (which was inspired by Freddy from FNaF 1) and if you could see them, you would use your flashlight to flash them, and thus make them run away to their original position. It is unknown if this mechanic was what inspired the mechanics for Hammer Head and The Amalgam in Five Nights at the Krusty Krab: Chapter 3.

When it was time to start with the art, Dakota played the game SOMA, an underwater horror game during that time. He adored the game along with its art style, and decided to copy it for Five Nights at Rock Bottom. When he noticed that characters like Hammer Head wouldn’t fit in this art style, the entire game was started all over again. It started of with a new office module Dakota was really proud of with both its style and mechanics. It also wouldn’t have included any of the Barbed wire characters or references to SpongeBob. (There was a folder though about a "ComboSpongeBob" which Dakota forgot when he even made with it or what it would've it been.)

Allegedly the last thing made for the game, was the new Hammer Head model Dakota made which he was really proud of. However when he showed the model of in 1 Teaser, many people didn't actually like the model at all. Thus he decided to make a 3rd Hammer Head model, but at that point he thought that since he was making the game for fans, and the fans didn't like it, then what was point of continuing it? Thus the entire game was cancelled with a GameJolt Post and a video which posted a year later explaining what it would have had. Altough he tried to make a remake of it without ever announcing it, that also never came to be, and thus the franchise laid dormant for many years.... UNTIL-
